• Hi!

    I’m Katherine

You have priorities you want to accomplish in business and life and my job is to help you achieve them.

I have two rules when it comes to summer marketing:

    1. Keep it fun
    2. Plan/schedule ahead

One of the best pieces of advice I can give my clients is to keep their marketing FUN! If you’re not having fun marketing your business then no one is going to be interested in your business.

While there are ways to make each season fun, the summer months should be the FUNNEST!

People are busy during the summer. They are outside enjoying the weather, vacationing, visiting friends and family. So for many home-based businesses, the summer months are a little bit slower. In addition, home-based business owners are caught up in their own summer schedule to devote a lot of time to their business.

    STEP 1: KEEP IT FUN

If you wouldn’t read it, like it, comment on it, or think it’s fun…..then don’t post it, share it, use it.

It seems like it should be self-explanatory that your brand has to fit your personality. If it’s not something you enjoy – then it’s not part of your brand. Simple as that.

Too many home-based business owners get caught up in replicating what everyone else is doing. Three big problems with that strategy:

    1. You are no longer unique and therefore you are uninteresting.
    2. It’s hard to stand out when you’re copying 5,000 other people.
    3. You stop having fun when you’re trying to be like someone else.

Below are a few ideas on how you can add a little bit of fun summer style to your brand.

SOCIAL MEDIA PROFILES AND COVER IMAGES

Update your social media profile and cover images
Have a great summer-y photo of you at the beach? Do you have products or services that are specific to summer?

Then it might be time to update your social media.

    Notes:

    • Never put products in your profile photo. A photo of you is more personable and relatable.
    • Whatever photo you use must be a good-quality photo. Don’t use anything blurry with bad lighting.
    • The cover photo is a great place to market your summer products or services.
    • Don’t have any summer products? You can still update your cover photo with a summer picture and a fun summer quote.

IT'S NOT JUST MEMORIAL DAY AND FOURTH OF JULY

Everyone is going to focus on Memorial Day and Fourth of July. Be different.

There are hundreds of other fun holidays to celebrate over the summer.

Here are just a few summer holidays to get you thinking:

Months: National Camping Month (June), National Iced Tea Month (June), National Ice Cream Month (July), National Watermelon Month (July), Arrr-gust International Pirate Month (August)

Days: Donut Day (6/1) Wonder Woman Day (6/3) Corn on the Cob Day (6/9) Superman Day (7/3) Chocolate Day (7/7) Pina Colada Day (7/10) Sneak Some Zucchini Onto Your Neighbor’s Porch Night (8/8) S’mores Day (8/10)

    SUMMER THEMED SOCIAL MEDIA POSTS

Keep your social media marketing from getting boring and introduce summer themed posts. Some examples include:

    • Summer themed questions to increase comment engagement (fill in the blank, open-ended, would you rather)

    • Summer themed quotes (travel, summer, vacation, etc)

    • Summer themed hashtags (the most relevant hashtags change each year so be sure you know which ones are getting the most attention this year)

    • Summer themed polls (this or that)

SUMMER FACEBOOK LIVE OR INSTA STORIES

Time to spice up your live streaming. You can still do trainings, teachings, or even product sales and have your followers get excited about tuning in but introducing summer themes to your live streams or Insta stories.

    Too often business owners follow the same routines over and over again. Same settings, similar scripts….{yawn!}

Change it up and add a different summer theme to everyday! Take your live stream to the pool, picnic, hiking, etc. (Download 65 Summer Live Stream | Insta Stories Ideas with the 60-Minute Marketing Makeover)

    TAKE PHOTOS!

People LOVE to look a photos. Sadly, too many business owners are worried about filling their social media timelines with product and sales information.

    Stop it!

You don’t have to post a photo of yourself every day. But you can take photos of a beautiful sunset, a yummy looking picnic, or your babies/fur-babies playing in the water sprinklers.

It’s all about being personable and relatable….with a summer theme.

My favorite go-to photo editing apps for editing on-the-go are:

    Facetune

    VSCO

Canva (Canva is free and a video tutorial is included in the 60 Minute Marketing Makeover with Summer Bonuses)

“Looking back, I think I was just sort of going through the motions. I was posting on Facebook because I know I SHOULD but I wasn’t really posting anything that got my followers’ attention or helped to build my business. With the marketing makeover I understand where I was going wrong and for the first time in a long time I’m actually excited about my brand.”

    STEP 2: PLAN AND SCHEDULE

One thing I hate is to see is my clients sitting in their office at their desk while their kids go play outside. It’s YOUR summer too!

That’s why I am a huge advocate of planning weeks (if not months) in advance. My clients use the Interactive Marketing Calendar (included in the 60 Minute Marketing Makeover) to plan ahead.

Use the scheduling method of your choice whether it’s Hootsuite, CinchShare, your email marketing platform or scheduling right inside of Facebook. But get your marketing scheduled and then go play!

Pro Tip: Never use any 3rd party scheduler (like Hootsuite) to schedule your Facebook posts. Facebook penalizes you by showing it to less of your followers. Always schedule your Facebook posts using Facebook for the highest engagement.

Join us in the comments below and share your favorite summer marketing tip….. and why it’s your favorite!

In your comment, share as much detail as you can because you may help inspire someone else to have their own major breakthrough.

    {Important: please share your thoughts and ideas directly in the comments. Links to other posts, videos, etc. may be removed.}

If you received any value from this post, please pay it forward by sharing on social media.

Thank you for watching, sharing and adding your insight and experiences to the discussion.
