WHY MARKETING IS NOT A ONE NIGHT STAND

Hi!

I’m Katherine

Have a small or home-based business? Set big goals for your business and life? My job is to help you achieve them.

So you know how older movies play over and over on TBS and they are super family friendly? Then years and years go by and you forget about all of the not-so-family friendly moments?

Yeah….that.

My kid’s have never watched Jerry McGuire and I felt that I could never win my Mother of the Year award if my kids had been deprived of this movie their entire childhood.

My kid’s have never watched Jerry McGuire and I felt that I could never win my Mother of the Year award if my kids had been deprived of this movie their entire childhood.

–Remember the moment Rod Tidwell made it big and started crying and hugging Jerry McGuire?…..yes!😭

–Remember the “SHOW ME THE MONEY” dialogue?…..yes!💰

–Remember the gratuitous, bed-shaking, screaming bedroom scene?…….Yeah, I didn’t.😳

Needless to say, when that scene appeared on our 70″ high definition TV, my 6’2″ 16 year old son began awkwardly scrambling to find any place to hide in the couch and my 14 year old daughter immediately grabbed her phone and pretended not to notice (as if she couldn’t hear the high pitched shrieks and heavy breathing).

I jumped off the couch so fast I think I threw my back out and it felt like it took me 20 minutes to find the remote.

It took 2 full days before my son would make eye contact with me again.

However….

One of the quotes I LOVED from that movie was when Jerry and Rod were talking about dating a single Mom. Being a single Mom myself, I found myself raising my hands and saying “Preach it, Brother Rod!”

“First, single mothers don’t ‘date.’ They have been to the circus, you know what I’m saying? They have been to the puppet show and they have seen the strings. A real man does not shoplift the pooty from a single mom.”

-Rod Tidwell

Let me be very blunt….

Most small and home-based business owners are trying to shoplift the pooty from their customers.

They don’t know understand that marketing is like dating a single mom. To stand out from the competitors you have to be ready for the long-haul.
